Cimarrones (Runaway Slaves) was created in South Plainfield NJ by Nelson Baéz.  It is a NJ based Afro-Puerto Rican Bomba and Plena group whose mission is to promote the beautiful music and culture of Puerto Rico.  We believe in the preservation of the traditional folkloric music of Puerto Rico. We play traditional bomba and plena and create fusion with other genres of the Caribbean and jazz. Viejos Tiempos, our first CD, was recorded in 2009. We will be recording our second production in July 2010:
